Alison Rawlins

About Me: I express myself through hosting Cuddle Party events, playing the ukulele and guitar, and creating jewelry, watercolors, acrylics, and video art. I developed a video series to explore energetic healing and consent education. Many fear asking for what they want or saying no to unwanted things. It's empowering to be heard and receive full attention, or to sit in silence. At a Cuddle Party, I provide a safe space to express desires for platonic touch or practice giving honest "no"s.

Favorite Cuddle Party Rule: My favorite rule is #6. I love that you not only get to, but are wholeheartedly encouraged to Change Your Mind. A common thread in yoga, meditation, reiki, and other practices is present moment focus. It is very important for me to practice being completely present in the here and now because otherwise I have a tendency to get caught up in my own regrets and worry. What I love most about Cuddle Party is that for a few hours we are all together NOW responding to our desires and others’ requests as we are in the moment, and if something we thought we’d like, and maybe even something that we asked for, isn’t working out, anyone can just say so!

What I got out of Cuddle Party personally: Personally it has been extremely nourishing to understand unconditional love and kindness with “strangers.” The structure of the Cuddle Party Welcome Circle allows us to leave ego at the door and experiment with interactions as though each moment is new, giving continuous opportunities to be in choice with what is happening. I love the special moments that I have shared with people who I might never have met outside of Cuddle Party.

Who I am as a Cuddle Party Facilitator / What you'll find at my Cuddle Parties: As a Cuddle Party Facilitator, I serve as hostess, guide, and participant too. When you come to my home, you will find my cat, Skittles, and Dog, Bandit. I curate a collection of playthings like runestones, crystals, a feather wand, and literature on topics like yoga and the healing powers of touch. We’ll gather in my living room for the Welcome Circle, then you’ll have a variety of lounging and conversation options to explore. A common misconception is that “cuddling” is specific to laying down next to each other – while that’s a great way to exchange platonic touch, other options include sitting front to back to exchange a shoulder massage, or face to face for eye gazing, one seated with the other laying down with feet up for a tickle, and group exchanges that break the dyad mold all together… It’s amazing how many things groups will think of when the only thing off the table is hooking up. PP My Events: Get ready for an exciting return of Cuddle Party TM to Ithaca, NY, starting Sunday, March 2, 2025, at my cozy home! This fantastic Sunday Snuggle Sanctuary kicks off at noon and goes until 4 pm every week. We'll begin with a warm meet and greet where I’ll serve delicious hot tea and light snacks—feel free to arrive at your own pace and mingle with fellow participants. At 12:30, the door will close, and we’ll dive into the Welcome Circle. We'll spend about 30 to 40 minutes introducing ourselves, setting boundaries, and going over the Rules. Then, enjoy 90 minutes to 2 hours of delightful Cuddle Practice! I'll guide us through a soothing meditation and gather everyone for the Closing Circle to share insights and affirmations. There will also be time to chat with new friends as you gather your things and head out. This program will be offered weekly, provided that at least four individuals RSVP to alisonrawlins@teachingithacawellness.com by 9 AM the morning of each event.
